Picking out new floors

Simone and her mother-in-law went over the flooring and tile selection for the tenth time that day at the builder's office. Simone's mother in law's frown had not left her face in the forty minutes they'd been there.

"Do you think the tiles will go with the hardwood?" The older woman worried, shuffling through the box of tiles. "They'll be perfect," Simone reassured her. "Oh my!" Gasped the mother in law. "What is it?" Simone tried to see but her mother in law's back blocked her view. "Look at this!" Simone's mother in law pulled out a black tile with a white diamond shaped inlay. "This," the older woman murmured with a gleam in her eye, "is going in my en suite. It will look stunning!" Simone smiled, pleased. Her mother in law had finally found something to get excited about! All it took was a simple black tile... Who'd have figured?
