So, what else haven't we seen yet?

Simone had mapped it out precisely but... maps and streets as experienced live consist of two very different things. Still, having taken a taxi that dropped them off close to the Trevi fountain, Simone felt fairly confident that she could find it unaided. First, however, another stop for gelato. When in Rome, eat gelato - because back home? There's only the grocery bought variety and it tastes nothing like the Italian ice cream. Feeling nicely sweetened up, the group battled the throngs of other tourists and headed toward the fountain. Simone stopped, fascinated by the artwork of a sidewalk artist. Another member of their group was equally enthralled and she purchased two paintings for herself. "Did you want one too?" She asked Simone. Simone, who currently did not have any cash, nodded. "But keep it - and save it for Christmas?" The deal thus sealed, they made their way, in the midday heat, to the fountain. B loved it! He threw a coin, made a wish and then they were on their way to the Pantheon, passing breathtaking architectural delights as they walked on uneven cobblestone sidewalks and roadways. The Pantheon, with its canned recordings of "Keep it quiet, please," in umpteen languages, failed to impress B who, by that time, was begging to go home. Simone took a picture of a group of nuns inside the Pantheon then she too called it a day. Hubby had long ago given up pretending he was enjoying himself. So they hailed a cab, went to a grocery store where they picked up snacks for dinner then headed back to their holiday rental. Ooooh.... Relaxation time! Except that several of the kids decided that since they were in Rome, they should really party in Rome. Really? (Thank goodness they're old enough to do THAT on their own!)
