"You're banded," says B. "What?" I ask, thoroughly perplexed. "What does that mean?" His chin rises as he explains, "It means that you're surrounded by people." I scoff. "You're making that up." "No, no," he touches his chin thoughtfully with his index finger. "That's right. Banded. It means, 'surrounded by people'. I'm sure I read it somewhere."
