An ode to GooGone
On an unusually hot day, Simone went to the store and purchased two lovely baking trays, her old ones having been used inadvertently too cook meat. Happy with her purchase, Simone proceeded, once home, to remove the labels from the trays. This proved somewhat more arduous than anticipated.
Having at great lengths removed the first label, Simone sat down to remove the second. She was overheating and sat directly on the floor while struggling to remove the glue from the second tray. And such was the crux of the problem: while the label came off easily, the glue remained.
Finally victorious, Simone stood up. That was when she realized that no, there isn't always a guardian angel for idiots: the first label was firmly attached to her posterior. And unlike what had happened with the tray, the label would NOT come off. Alternating tears and laughter, Simone attempted to removed the label, tearing off bits of skin in the process.
Finally, hubby arrived to the rescue. "Have you tried GooGone?" He asked soberly.
No. Simone had not. As embarrassing as her situation already was, it was about to get worse: hubby had her bend over while he administered liberal doses of the miracle product. The glue, in the end, did come off. Simone's pride did the same in equal measure.
