In case of emergency...

At the art class I teach on Monday nights, a little boy started crying. The drawing he'd done did not match his expectations. At all. He wanted to start over. "I'm sorry," I told him. "Every student only gets one piece of paper. We're going to have to work with what you have." My words only made matters worse. The little boy sobbed violently and begged. "Please? Please please please please please?" I stared at him at a complete loss until a young girl piped up. "Last year, when I took this course, the teacher told me that, in case of an emergency, we can always turn the piece of paper over to the other side..." Ah. Yes. I should have thought of that...
