Nightmares

B woke up, yelling. Before Simone could muster up enough energy to rouse out of bed, he had raced into her room. "What's the matter?" She asked. "I had a nightmare, he cuddled in his mother's arms. Simone kissed the top of B's head. "You could fill your head with sunshine and stars," she suggested. "Then there wouldn't be room for bad dreams." "But there was a wolf," B explained. "And the wolf turned into an owl. Owls scare me." Simone pondered this for a moment. Owls didn't seem particularly scary to her but she did not question her son's fear. "I know!" She exclaimed at last. "You can put silly glasses on the owl! Silly glasses with hearts!" B giggled. "That's funny." "Let's try it now," Simone said, closing her eyes. "Let's imagine a scary owl and we'll plop a pair of silly glasses on its beak."
And so they did.
