Whaddya mean, he didn't need antibiotics?
A week of fighting, or nearly so.
A week of telling little B that, yes, he DID have to swallow the yucky tasting medication.
A week of bribing the kid with Smarties.
A week with a child who showed no visible or tangible signs of improvements to his health.
Simone dragged him back to the doctor's office.
"Who prescribed antibiotics for him?" The doctor demanded.
Simone told him that the clinic's younger doctor had prescribed antibiotics.
"Seriously?" Simone's older doctor scoffed. "You obviously dealt with someone who didn't know what he was doing. If a kid has three infections at once? It's viral. Antibiotics are completely useless in such a case. I'm going to have a chat with that doctor."
Well geez.

Hey!
Little B came home from school positively exhausted. Uncharacteristically, he curled up on the couch, shut his eyes and promptly began snoring.
An hour later, in unison with dinner time, the little guy's eyelids fluttered. He yawned, stretched and yawned again. Then his eyes cast down on his body, widened with horror and he gasped.
"Hey!" He pointed an accusing finger at his mother. "I wore these clothes yesterday!"

Detox Mom
The 14 year old glared at Simone. "Some moms are constantly down your throat. You're like a sword. A sword that cuts all the way down to my belly."
Sigh.
Adolescence. What a precious time in a person's existence.

Les lettres silencieuses
"Maman?"
"Oui?"
"J'ai besoin de ton aide."
"Ah?"
"Oui.
...

Scallops?
Simone's hubby cooked up scallops that he wrapped in bacon. Simone fairly salivated at the smell.
The 14 year old gave her plate a suspicious glare. "What's this?" She asked.
Duly informed, she took a few cautious bites after which she declared, "I don't like scallops wrapped in bacon."
"Why not?" Simone asked. "They're delicious and they're cooked perfectly!"
"There's a big bone in them!" Wailed the 14 year old.
Simone thought about this for a few seconds and found herself at a loss for words. "Um, what bone?" She ventured finally.
"This bone!" The 14 year old pointed, her voice seething with exasperation.
"Dear. That's a toothpick. You can take it out anytime you like."
Oh.
