Where's Reily?

On Monday, little B missed the bus. This puzzled both Simone and the little guy, as Reily, the bus driver, always waited for them. And they didn't think they were late that day. Simone drove little B to school.

Simone was prepared to ask Reily whether she'd shown up early in the morning when she went to pick up little B at the bus stop after school. She waited in the usual spot where Reily stopped the bus and didn't the bus glide past her, forcing her to walk several feet to catch up to it. Gone were Reily's smiling face and chatty demeanor. She'd been replaced by a gloomy looking gentleman.

Simone grabbed little B's hand and they went home. She learned to leave earlier for the bus and that no matter where she waited in the afternoon for the bus, the driver would drive several feet past her before finally stopping.

"Did Reily get another route?" Simone worked up her courage to ask on Thursday.

Eeyore the driver shook his head. "No. She's just sick. Still sick."

Simone felt like cheering. Not that she was happy that Reily was sick. She was happy that Reily would return!
