What are we going to do today?

Simone and B woke up at a leisurely 9 in the morning, each in their respective bunk bed of the guest room. In spite of the hour, the room was pitch dark as a result of the very thorough shutters. "Is it still night time?" B yawned. "Nope. Time to get up!" Simone's aunt's Lyon flat gave out onto a school. Given that classes were in session, the terrace with a view of the school yard gave off vibes of quiet energy. Simone and B ate their breakfast in relative silence. Simone's grandmother ambled into the kitchen as they were clearing their dishes. "Want to go for a walk?" She asked. "Sure," agreed Simone. B grumbled a little. He'd planned on a quiet morning with his mother's iPad. Off they went up the sloped driveway, down the steps, around the school, up the road, across the bridge and back to Simone's aunt's place. It took over an hour: B's propensity for dawdling over flowers, leaves and ants combined with Simone's grandmother's shuffle made for a very slow pace. When they arrived back at their destination, almost in time for lunch, B turned to his great grandmother and asked, "Why are you so slow?" Simone's jaw dropped open, appalled, but Simone's grandmother had raised children and grandchildren of her own. She merely smiled and told him that her legs didn't work as well as they used to. B considered this and nodded. "Okay. Do you want to go for another walk?" "Tomorrow," agreed Simone's grandmother, settling on the couch next to the child. "Okay." "Now show me what you're doing on that computer thing you've got," ordered Grandma.
