Malolo Island Resort

After a hellish tour of the Auckland international airport -hellish because of the number of people working at cross-purposes with everyone giving conflicting instructions - we headed off to Fiji. Our first impression of Nadi was that it was hot! And that the people were super friendly. B made friends with three different children as we waited for the ferry that would take us to our resort. Then he got angry: his father and I wanted to sit outside on the deck and bask in the warmth but B wanted to be in the air conditioned room reserved for tourists. In the end, we allowed him to go in there, sans his electronic device. Approximately 45 minutes later, the ferry stopped and two smaller boats approached. The first boat took our luggage and the second boat took us and a few other people who, it turned out, were people that worked at the Malolo Island Resort and were coming back after their days off. We met the executive chef of the resort that way! A band welcomed us with a song and we were given shell necklaces before a small tour of the resort. No internet in the rooms. No television in the rooms. A HAMMOCK outside the room. This week was going to be bliss...
