A Quiet Tuesday...

For a playground maybe...

The day started off well enough. Simone managed to get her homemade pasta sauce done before the kids invaded the kitchen. The dog has was fed. The 13 year old rushed out of the house early.

Then the 10 year old announces that she isn't feeling very well. Simone tells her she can do her homework later. The 10 year old rests for an hour before declaring that she feels well enough to go to school.

When Simone is getting ready to go to the store on an errand for hubby, she gets a phone call. Seems that the 10 year old was caught puking in the girls' washroom. Simone sighs and finishes buckling Baby B in his car seat. She picks up the sick girl then goes to do her errands. Twenty minutes later, they're backing into the driveway of the house.

"Is it okay if I throw up in the snowbank?" Moans the 10 year old.

Simone hastily parks the car in the driveway, nearly running over a pedestrian. The 10 year old stumbles out of the car and heads for the snowbank.

"Watch out for that spot," warns Simone to no avail. "That's where the dog does his business!"

The 10 year old returns, feeling better and ready to attack her homework. She smells a little funky but promises to bathe. Later.

A text message comes in twenty minutes later. The 17 year old and his girlfriend are heading over, having finished their exams. They arrive soon afterward, walk the dog and proceed to prepare themselves a light lunch. The 17 year old chases the 2 year old. The dog joins in. The phone rings. It's the school. The 13 year old is receiving an in-school suspension for being involved in a "physical altercation" at school. The discussion with the vice-principal lasts about 10 minutes, amidst cries of glee from the 2 year old and gobble-dee-gooks from the 17 year old. The 10 year old punctuates this chorus with moans. Her headache has returned.

A quiet Tuesday indeed...
