Wanton Destruction
















Last weekend, in time for Mother's Day it would seem, squatters invaded Simone's family home in Normandy. The house has been in the family for generation and has felt the running of little feet, heard tears of loss and frank laughter, has sheltered the healthy, the ill, the elderly and the young. It is a home with many cherished memories embedded in the walls, furniture and atmosphere.

The open style family room - dining room suffered most of the damage. The hardwood floors, slick from years of use, the beautiful beams on the ceiling, curtains, chairs, tables... All are now damaged from the fire and smoke that the squatters started on the floor by the window. Why they would do this is beyond Simone's grasp but do it they did. Above are some pictures taken a day after the destruction was discovered...
