Mushroom soup anyone?

Simone thought that her garden would remain a stellar example of simplicity. She planted evergreens and sturdy plants with colourful leaves. She planted some herbs and even the occasional flower. But the flower had to promise to require very little care beyond getting water from time to time. Simone thought she had everything under control.

Perhaps she had most things under control.

Alas, she did not have the weather under control. After weeks of dark, damp, cool weather, her harvest consists mostly of... mushrooms. Not just one kind of mushroom. There is a dizzying variety of them, sprouting all over the lawn and garden. The sporadic creatures pop up in planters as well, regardless of the height of said planters.

The dog, bless him, seems rather interested in these strange new growths and had to be yanked away from several promising crops. Little B - who tends to follow in the dog's footsteps so closely that Simone now has the unenviable task of repeatedly explaining to the boy that it is NOT okay to get down on all fours and lap up water from puddles on the sidewalk, never mind parking lots - has to be restrained indoors lest he too decide to ingest the cute little capped plants.

So... mushroom soup anyone?
