The heat assaults you when you walk out the door. Or sometimes before then.
"We're sweating like pigs here," said the 20 year old. "There's no AC in the building!"
The temperature has risen well over 30 degrees Celsius and feels close to 40... A nurse at a local hospital confided to Simone that she the imaging department has recently experienced a higher than normal number of cancellations. In an effort to keep the program running efficiently, she phoned a number of people to see whether they would consider bumping up their appointment to that day.
"Lady," one man replied grumpily, "Do you know what kind of summer we've had?"
"Well, not too good," the nurse admitted.
"That's right," the man said. "Pretty crappy summer so far. Have you seen the weather outside today?"
The nurse told him that no, she had not seen the weather outside at all on account of the fact that she'd been working in a windowless environment since 6 am that morning.
"It's eff--- beautiful, Lady. So no, no chance, no dice, no nada. I ain't coming in. Find some other sucker."
Canadians are very serious about enjoying nice summer days - especially when they have to wait until mid-August for a hot spell!
