Getting worse

Simone watched little B with trepidation. Although his first day of antibiotics had helped him recuperate sufficiently to get up and play, day two of medication yielded a very different result: the poor kid couldn't get up off the couch. Knowing that they were scheduled to fly out to France on the Friday and that she wouldn't take a kid with active pneumonia on the plane, she did what she intensely dislikes doing: she took little B to the hospital's emergency department. Of course, the minute he spoke to a nurse, little B perked up immensely! Hours of useless waiting later, a doctor finally saw the little guy and told Simone that in addition to the pneumonia, the poor kid appeared to have tonsillitis. "But medication take care of it," the doctor assured her in very accented English. "Maybe." Simone looked at the black haired man with concern and explained that they were due to fly out on Friday, two days from then. "Do you think he can make the trip?" The doctor looked doubtful as he gazed at little B. "Medication take care of it," he repeated. "Maybe," he added once again. Well, gee, now what?
