A secret visit

Not too long ago, Simone lost a very dear friend. No. He didn't pass away. He was upset that Simone had cancelled a visit to see him and his family on her birthday at the last minute. Simone was sick that day and waited, hoping that she would feel better only she never stopped vomiting and, regretfully cancelled. Her friend had prepared a marvellous meal and bought a birthday present, all of which he threw down the incinerator when Simone cancelled. Afterward, he refused to have anything to do with Simone. While Simone understood that her friend was upset, she was particularly saddened that this turn of events meant she would no longer see her friend's wife, who was also a friend. It would have been impossible to visit her at their apartment without causing a ruckus between husband and wife. Fortunately, the wife managed a ladies' clothing store in Paris and so Simone arranged to visit her on one of the days she was working. It was lovely to see and talk to A., although it reminded Simone of losing a friend and the visit was bittersweet as a result. Who knows? Perhaps in another year things will have simmered down and everybody can be friends again. In the meantime, there's an intriguing little jewelry store just a few doors down from the wife's store.
