Calipers

Simone learned all about calipers yesterday. Okay, so not ALL about calipers. She learned a little about calipers.

Simone had an appointment at the garage. She showed up on time, at 9:30 am, at the tire shop to have her winter tires put on her car. Little B was amazingly cooperative, playing with his LeapFrog Diego game the entire time. However, two hours later, she was still sitting in the waiting area of the tire shop.

Simone did have a very interesting conversation with a woman who admired Simone's boots. The woman proceeded to tell Simone about celebrating her first day off in twelve and a half years (when her youngest finally went to school)by placing an ad in the paper to invite family and friends to celebrate with her. Sadly, the conversation was short-lived as the woman's car was ready to go in an amazingly short period of time.

At 11:30 a young man with a clipboard informed Simone that the cost of changing her tires would be $1600.

We are sorry to inform you that at his point, Simone used a string of swear words and consequently had to wash her mouth out with soap.

Apparently, the calipers on the rear brakes were worn to nothing and the cost of changing them astronomical. After a hurried text conversation with hubby, it was decided that Simone would simply stick to changing tires and drive the car home. Hubby texted a string of swear words aimed at the garage guys and their greedy propensity to inflate prices. He washed his fingers off with soap.

So THEN the garage guys changed the tires. What the devil were they doing for the previous 2 hours? Sheesh. And, praying that if anything happened that she should please be granted a quick, painless death, Simone drove the squeaking, grinding car home...
