A Day Off School
It's difficult to see how this is a punishment. Simone guesses it's more of a punishment for the parents for failing to raise children that conform to rules of proper behaviour.
The fourteen year old called a girl who'd recently dyed her hair red, "Ginger" a few weeks ago. He repeated the name on occasion and its echo was heard repeatedly amongst various other Grade Nine boys. Some of them pushed the name-calling a little further. The girl, in tears, complained to the school principal and now, as a result, the 14 year old is suspended from school for a day. With no homework, he claims.
Really?
This is punishment?
The boy had his television and computer privileges removed but that still makes it more of a punishment for the parents.
Ginger...
Maybe Simone should grate ginger all over his food tonight. But would he get the message?
