Back to regular programming (sort of)

After a few delays, namely 2 hours upon departure and another 45 minutes upon arrival, Simone finally returned home. Strangely enough, for the first time in her life, she felt glad to be back in North America. In the past, she had loved arriving in France and dreaded leaving but this year? Simone missed her husband and family so intensely that to arrive back in their embrace felt like a relief.

The little guy bounced up and down excitedly to see his mother and waved the "Hello Kitty!" balloon that his father had purchased for him at the airport shop. He alternated between excited calls of "Mom" and Naaan-naaan! and refused to hold his mother's hand at all until it came time to cross the road.

"I can do it myself," he explained.

See what a week away can do?

Sigh....

But Simone reassured herself. Her week away was constructive: it meant that father and son learned important bonding lessons together.

Cemented with a Hello Kitty balloon.
