New York City

For new year's eve, Simone and family went to New York City, their number drastically reduced to 4 as the older children decided that they would rather spend the evening with friends.

What an experience the trip was! They arrived hot on the heels of a blizzard that dropped 20 inches of snow on the city. Twenty! And guess how much of that snow could be found in Times Square? Next to none. Truly. The city must have spend untold amounts of money clearing that snow to possibly send it to Disney, another place where make believe is valued over truth and grit.

You would have thought that the nasty snow stuff never fell on the city at all! Unless you decided to venture into Chinatown. The sidestreets there were clogged with snow, cars and slush.

Phew! Back to reality.
