Border Mix-Up

It should have been a simple shopping trip. Simone's hubby had written out simple, clear instructions so that Simone could drive to the mall in Buffalo then back to the border.
Sure enough, the instructions worked wonders. Simone didn't get lost. Not one little bit. Unfortunately, hubby had not known where he and little B would wait out Simone's visit to Frederick's of Hollywood, the lingerie store only available in the states. Hubby and little B did not have valid passports in hand and decided to shop at the Fort Erie Walmart while Simone and the 12 year old ventured out into foreign territory.
Bras having been purchased, Simone drove back to the border and made it through customs without a hiccup. She even had exact change for the toll. Then trouble struck. She remembered the wrong name for the street on which the Walmart was located. Well, it wasn't TOTALLY her fault. Simone thought the street was "Helena Street" but it becomes Thompson Road and that's the name of the highway exit.
So Simone drove past Thompson Road, kept going for a few exits then doubled back. Trouble was, she didn't find a Helena Street on the way back either but she did see the Walmart from the highway.
And while she cursed herself, she drove right back into the U.S. Customs area.
"How long do you plan to stay in the States?" The customs officer asked.
"Oh, two or three minutes, depending on traffic," sighed Simone.
The customs officer barely suppressed a smile as Simone briefly told him her story, gave her back the passports and then waved her through.
"How long were you in the states?" Asked the Canadian customs officer a few minutes later.
"Oh, one or two minutes. Traffic was light," Simone replied.
This time, the customs officer was able to provide some enlightening instructions. "Just take the Thompson Road exit," he told her.
"Thank-you," gushed Simone. She'd been afraid she might be stuck in the customs loophole all evening...
