Digital Trauma
Three years old. A prime age for self-discovery. Aside from the obvious discoveries entailed through toilet training, little B has demonstrated a marked predilection for inflicting digital trauma to the inside of his nostrils. In other words, yes: he picks his nose. And he eats it.
"Stop that!" Simone tells him. "It's gross."
Little B stops the activity long enough for his mother's attention to be diverted and then resumes digging for treasure if such treasure remains. At least he hesitates now, giving Simone a sideways glance as his index rises to the occasion.
"Stop that!" Simone said, catching the little guy offguard. He'd thought he was safe, hiding in the bathtub with his rubber duckies watching. "It's gross!"
Little B stopped, hiding behind the shower doors as his mother rubbed the side of her nose. One serious eye peeked out as he whispered, "Eat it, Naan-naan. Eat it..."
