Another swimming lesson fiasco...

Little B ran to the check-in desk, as per his custom and shouted a cheerful hello to the ladies behind the counter.

"Little B!" said one of them. "Welcome back. Hurry on in and get changed. Your swimming teacher is waiting for you."

Little B raced to the change rooms, checking that Mom was following him, then proceeded to count the change rooms before settling on one.

"You like number 8 today?" smiled Simone.

"Nummer ate," confirmed little B.

The swimming lesson started out very well. Little B accepted a large plastic circle from his teacher and followed her into to the big pool where they played on a platform in the shallow end.

"Naan-nan?" little B asked a couple of times but, for the most part, managed without dragging Simone into the very chilly water of the large pool.

When the group returned to the warmer shores of the baby pool however, little B decided he'd had enough group activity for one day. He rifled through the toy basket and dutifully ignored his teacher's increasingly strident calls for his attention.

The teacher of the infant group enlisted little B's help to hand out toys and then buckets to each baby. Little B appeared to find this activity quite amusing until his real teacher called for him because it was jumping off the wall time. Little B grudgingly headed over but when the teacher tried to help him out of the pool, he objected rather... violently. He kicked and fought and fought and kicked.

"You have a choice," said the teacher. "Either you go out of the pool this way or you are done with this class. You cannot wander around in the pool unattended."

Little B liked those options so well that he spent the next ten minutes screaming and bashing the pool bench.

Sigh. Gotta look forward to those swimming lessons...
